The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of CUHK Signs MOU with Rossum Robot to Advance Intelligent Orthopaedic Surgery

During the recent Chinese Orthopaedic Association (COA) academic conference held in Tianjin, the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of CUHK and Beijing Rossum Robot Technology Co., Ltd. (Rossum Robot) formally signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a new milestone in their collaboration within the field of orthopaedic innovation.

Professor Yung Shu-hang Patrick, Associate Dean of the CUHK Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, and Professor Wang Yu, Chairman and CEO of Rossum Robot and a professor at Beihang University, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties. Professor Wu Xinbao, former Vice-President of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, attended as the key witness for the ceremony and delivered remarks.

This collaboration aims to create a "union of strengths." The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of CUHK, with its profound academic heritage, leads orthopaedic innovative translational research in the Asia-Pacific region. Rossum Robot brings a technology rooted in top-tier academic and clinical excellence. This system, recognized as the world's first fracture reduction robot, originated from engineering at Beihang University, and its foundational clinical development was pioneered by the originating medical team, led by Professor Wu Xinbao at the renowned Beijing Jishuitan Hospital.

This strategic cooperation fully combines CUHK's outstanding clinical research capabilities, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital's pioneering clinical development experience, and Beihang's engineering excellence. It leverages these mutual strengths to jointly propel orthopaedic surgery towards a new era of greater precision, intelligence, and minimally invasive techniques.
