New Horizons in Translational Sciences – TEA‑NET Symposium 2026 was successfully held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

[European–Asian R&D Bridge] From 11 to 13 March 2026, the “New Horizons in Translational Sciences – TEA‑NET Symposium 2026”, initiated by the Section of Basic and Clinical Translational Sciences of Academia Europaea (AE) and hosted by the Translational European‑Asian Network (TEA‑NET), was successfully held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

The symposium brought together Members of Academia Europaea, along with leading scientists, clinicians, and researchers from Europe and Asia to strengthen collaboration and exchanges in translational science and translational medicine. Guided by the Translational Medicine Cycle Model proposed by Academia Europaea, the symposium program clarified the key concepts and scope of discovery science, translational research, and translational medicine.

A total of 19 seminars covered a broad range of interdisciplinary topics. The invited speakers and participants shared and exchanged insights on recent advances and practical experiences in areas including gut–microbiome–brain axis, medical robotics, artificial intelligence and future medicine, anesthesiology, musculoskeletal diseases, mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases, as well as cardiac and cardiometabolic diseases. Discussions also addressed how to further enhance collaboration and accelerate the translation and implementation of scientific discoveries to improve patient care and promote global health.

Serving as a long‑term cooperation bridge between universities and institutions in Europe and Asia, the symposium also provided an important platform for nurturing the next generation of talents in translational research and translational medicine.

About TEA-NET: Established in 2023 on the initiative of Academia Europaea, TEA‑NET is coordinated in Asia through CUHK, which serves as its Asian coordinating centre. Prof. Dennis LO (Member of Academia Europaea, Vice‑Chancellor and President of CUHK) is the President of TEA-NET Asia, and Prof. Ling QIN is the Executive Director of TEA-NET Asia. The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games

The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games were held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo of Italy from 6-22 February, featuring 116 events across 16 winter sports disciplines. The CUHK Sports Medicine Team, including Professor Yung as the Chief Medical Officer, was cordially invited to deliver essential medical support throughout the game for the Hong Kong athletes in Alpine Skiing and Short Track Speed Skating.

Ongoing On-Field Medical Support

The CUHK Sports Medicine Team continues to extend its professional expertise by providing on-field medical support at various sporting and community events. Our team has been actively involved in major events such as the annual All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Tournament, Run with Your Heart, and the IncluFit All Inclusive Fun Run.

During these events, the team delivered comprehensive on-site services, including sports taping, massage recovery, and immediate medical assistance, ensuring the safety of the participants while supporting optimal performance.
